76ers

The 76ers may soon get Joel Embiid back.

Embiid, who has been sidelined since Feb. 26 with a strained right oblique, resumed individual on-court workouts this week, according to coach Nick Nurse. The star center could return during the team’s upcoming road trip, per Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.

Philadelphia hosts the Trail Blazers on Sunday before heading west to face the Nuggets, Kings and Jazz. Sunday’s game will mark the ninth straight Embiid has missed.

Timberwolves

The Timberwolves are getting Anthony Edwards back.

Edwards, who had been dealing with right knee soreness, has been upgraded to available for Sunday’s matchup with the Thunder.

Oklahoma City is also expecting reinforcement in the frontcourt. Isaiah Hartenstein is listed as available after missing three games with a left calf contusion, according to The Oklahoman’s Justin Martinez.

Pistons

Pistons wing Ausar Thompson, who has missed the past five games with a right ankle sprain, is available for Sunday’s matchup with the Raptors, per Hunter Patterson of The Athletic.

Thompson has started 56 of the 57 games he has played for Detroit this season and has been a major part of a defense that ranks second in the NBA with a 108.8 rating.

He could receive consideration for an All-Defensive spot, though he will need to stay healthy. Because of reduced minutes in several games, only 50 of his 57 appearances currently count toward the NBA’s 65-game minimum for major awards eligibility.
