NBA Notes: Suns, Cole Anthony, Khris Middleton, Chris Boucher

Cole Anthony remains on the Suns’ roster. He also remains away from the team.

That hasn’t changed.

Anthony was widely expected to be waived after arriving at the trade deadline, but as Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reported, Suns coach Jordan Ott indicated backcourt injuries have slowed any decision.

“There hasn’t been much change,” Ott said. “We have had injuries and that’s kind of where it’s at.”

Phoenix begins a four-day break Friday. Devin Booker, sidelined by a hip strain, is trending toward a return next week. If the Suns feel comfortable with their guard depth, Anthony could be waived by Sunday, the final day for playoff eligibility elsewhere.

A move would also open a path to promote two-way guard Jamaree Bouyea.

Buyout Watch

Per Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, the Spurs join the Nuggets as teams monitoring Khris Middleton’s situation in Dallas. The Mavericks have left the buyout decision to Middleton.

Lonzo Ball drew interest from the Warriors and Nuggets, but knee concerns stalled talks. Nothing appears imminent.

D’Angelo Russell has not generated meaningful interest either. The Wizards would likely want financial concessions tied to his 2026-27 player option in any buyout.

And Chris Boucher? League personnel believe he’d welcome a return to Toronto. Whether the Raptors agree remains unclear.
