File this under “probably not happening”… but also “wow, what if?”
A proposed offseason blockbuster from Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz has the Cavaliers landing none other than Giannis Antetokounmpo. Yeah, that Giannis.
Here’s the idea:
Cavs get: Giannis
Bucks get: Evan Mobley, Max Strus, Tyrese Proctor, a 2026 first, a 2031 first, and a 2030 pick swap
It’s bold. It’s loud. And honestly, it’s kind of fun to think about.
Because if the Cavs pull this off? You’re suddenly looking at a Giannis, Donovan Mitchell, James Harden and Jarrett Allen. That’s not just contender talk. That’s potential parade-route planning.
Swartz even hinted at the ripple effect. Giannis in town might be the kind of move that gets a certain star to think twice about squeezing every last dollar out of his next deal. Translation: Watch out, NBA.
Now for reality check time.
The Bucks aren’t exactly itching to send Antetokounmpo anywhere, let alone to a division rival. And dealing Mobley, who may not have yet hit his ceiling, is no small ask. That’s your long-term anchor.
But the Cavs are under pressure. They haven’t cracked the conference finals in the Mitchell era. They went all-in on Harden. At some point, good isn’t good enough anymore.
So if they flame out again in 2026? Don’t totally dismiss something crazy.
Probably not this exact deal. Probably not Giannis in wine and gold.
But the idea of a seismic swing? Yeah. That part might eventually feel real.
