This one would flip the league on its head.
A proposed three-team deal from Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz has Giannis Antetokounmpo landing in New York. Not just a rumor. A full-on reshaping.
Knicks get: Giannis
Bucks get: Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, two first-round picks
Pelicans get: Karl-Anthony Towns
Start in New York.
You drop Giannis next to Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart and tell me that’s not real. That’s defense. That’s toughness. That’s a group built for May and June.
It also lines up with the chatter. The Knicks have been circling stars. Giannis is the biggest one out there.
Now Milwaukee. This is where it gets complicated.
You’re giving up a two-time MVP, a franchise icon, still in his prime. That’s not something you just do. But if Antetokounmpo is thinking about what’s next, you at least listen.
Zion gives you upside. Herb Jones gives you defense. The picks give you flexibility. It’s not Giannis. But nothing is.
Then there’s New Orleans. Towns gives the Pelicans a different look. Spacing. Scoring. A big who can stretch the floor next to their young pieces.
Anyway, back to Giannis. He’s put forth another dominant season (when healthy, that is). Still putting up elite numbers. Still a title-level force when everything is right.
The problem is Milwaukee hasn’t been close lately. Three straight early playoff exits. A roster that doesn’t scream contender. That’s where all of this starts.
Is this deal perfect? No. Is it the kind of swing that changes everything? Yeah, it is.
And if Antetokounmpo ever does move, it’s highly likely going to look something like this.
