File this under “wild”… but also “not crazy.”
Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz floated a deal that would send Clippers star Kawhi Leonard to the Warriors And honestly, it checks a few boxes.
Warriors get: Kawhi Leonard
Clippers get: Jimmy Butler, Brandin Podziemski, a 2026 first-rounder
Let’s start here — if the Clippers are pivoting, and it sure looks that way after moving James Harden and Ivica Zubac, then Kawhi becomes the biggest chip on the table. He turns 35 in June. He’s still elite. But timelines matter. So does durability.
Now flip it. Put Kawhi next to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Go ahead and bring Kristaps Porzingis back, too. Suddenly you’re looking at a group that makes a whole lot of sense.
Defense. Shooting. Experience. And a guy in Kawhi who, when right, still tilts a series. That part hasn’t changed.
He’s averaging 28.3 points this season on efficient shooting splits. MVP-level production. The question has never been talent. It’s availability.
For Golden State, though, this is the kind of swing you take. Curry doesn’t have forever. Everyone knows it.
If you’re going to chase one more run, you go get a guy who’s done it before. Twice.
As for the Clippers, Butler gives you a different kind of edge, Podziemski gives you youth, and the pick helps restock things.
Is it perfect? No. Is it interesting? Absolutely.
And in a summer that could get loud, don’t be shocked if Kawhi’s name is right in the middle of it.
