Bulls
The Bulls don’t appear to have any real interest in pursuing Anthony Davis, but they remain a team to watch when it comes to Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Stein notes that Chicago has expressed interest in Kuminga in the past, including during earlier trade discussions with Golden State involving Alex Caruso and other pieces.
Kuminga, 23, is not trade-eligible until Jan. 15, but league chatter continues to link him to the Bulls as they explore ways to add young upside without committing to a full teardown.
Hornets
The Hornets were among the teams that showed interest in Chris Paul during the offseason, but geography played a role.
Paul was not interested in playing far from his family in Los Angeles, Stein reports.
Charlotte is no longer expected to pursue Paul at this time. However, Stein adds that Paul has become more open-minded about destinations beyond L.A. as circumstances evolve. Paul remains under contract with the Clippers and becomes trade-eligible on Monday.
Pelicans
Rookies Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears are now viewed as the most untouchable players on the Pelicans’ roster, Stein writes.
That distinction previously belonged to Trey Murphy III and Herbert Jones. While New Orleans may be more open to listening on Murphy and Jones, the asking price remains extremely high, to the point where rival teams believe the Pelicans are effectively discouraging serious inquiries.
For now, Queen and Fears are considered off-limits as the organization evaluates its long-term direction.
