Nets

Brian Lewis of The New York Post has reported for a while that the Nets would love a crack at Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo if he ever hits the trade market.

Lewis now says the timing might actually work against Brooklyn. The Nets are deep into a tank, reshaping the roster and looking for draft position.

They also do not have a clear young franchise cornerstone to put next to a player of Giannis’ stature. Lewis wrote that Brooklyn would still listen, but the fit is far from clean if the two-time MVP asks out soon.

Heat

Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel wrote that the Heat would obviously have interest if Giannis wanted a fresh start.

He also made it clear that Bam Adebayo would not be part of the conversation. Winderman called that idea a “non-starter” and questioned whether Miami has enough remaining to make a credible offer.

The Heat also remain in limbo after trading a first-round pick for Terry Rozier without knowing he was being investigated for unusual betting activity. If the league does not provide relief, Miami’s trade flexibility tightens even further.

Others Linked

ESPN’s NBA panel kicked around five hypothetical trades that could work for Milwaukee. The ideas sent Antetokounmpo to the Hawks, Rockets, Knicks, Spurs and Warriors.

All of them were framed as exercises rather than anything imminent, but they show how wide the league will cast its net if the Bucks ever open that door.
