All Reportedly Quiet On Possible Trade Of Kings’ De’Aaron Fox

While the Sacramento Kings may be looking to move standout point guard De’Aaron Fox ahead of the NBA trade deadline, it doesn’t seem as if they’re very close.De'Aaron Fox, Kings, NBA

Per Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee, there’s been no movement. “All is quiet,” on a potential Fox deal, Anderson quoted an NBA source as saying.

Specifically, Anderson wrote the following:

“A source with direct knowledge of the situation told The Sacramento Bee ‘all is quiet as of now,’ indicating that no deal was imminent despite increased chatter and growing speculation.”

So while there’s plenty of time, Fox talks hadn’t gotten anywhere as of Friday evening. The NBA trade deadline is Thursday (February 6) at 3 p.m. EST/noon Pacific.

Reports suggest the San Antonio Spurs are Fox’s preferred destination, though it is believed agent Rich Paul has told the Kings he’s open to other spots. The Miami Heat and Houston Rockets also have been mentioned as possible Fox favorites. It’s unknown, however, if either of those teams has an interest or is willing to surrender the necessary assets.

Fox addressed the trade rumors on Thursday, suggesting that he’s open to staying in Sacramento.

“In this league, I expect the unexpected,” he said, via Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee. “I think crazier things have happened. … That’s their decision to make. I can’t tell them not to listen to offers or I can’t tell them to listen to offers.

“… “I think everybody has a preferred destination if they’re not in the place that — or if they’re not going to be in the place where they are in the moment. I think it’s natural.”

He added, “Every day I step on the court, I do my job. That’s always my thing,” Fox said. “I’ve never been a person to worry about anything else or go and do anything else. Every time I step on the court, I try to play the best I can, I try to win games.”
