NBA Notes: Rockets, Kevin Durant, Cam Reddish, Trey Lyles

The Rockets have plenty of business to handle as training camp draws closer.

Per William Guillory of The Athletic, many around the league believe Houston will first look to finalize a long-term extension with forward Tari Eason before completing one with Kevin Durant.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has also reported that a Durant extension is expected, but it may not be the front office’s immediate priority.

Eason is entering the final year of his rookie contract, with the Rockets having picked up his $5.68 million option for 2025-26. He set career highs last season at 12.0 points and 1.7 steals per game in 57 appearances, proving to be one of coach Ime Udoka’s more disruptive defenders.

The larger question for Houston: Does it now have too many good players? Guillory notes that Udoka could face real challenges sorting through a rotation that features more capable contributors than minutes to go around.

Reddish headed overseas? Free agent forward Cam Reddish is expected to continue his career in Europe. Per Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.com, the former lottery pick is finalizing a deal with Lithuania’s BC Šiauliai.

The contract will include an out clause should NBA or EuroLeague opportunities arise next season.

Reddish, 25, appeared in 33 games for the Lakers last year, averaging 3.2 points. The 2019 No. 10 overall pick has also played for the Hawks, Knicks and Trail Blazers.

Lyles deal official: Free agent forward Trey Lyles has officially signed with Real Madrid, the EuroLeague powerhouse announced. Agent Rich Paul confirmed the deal, which is worth $3 million with an NBA out clause.

Lyles, 29, averaged 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in 69 games with the Kings last season. Despite solid production as a stretch forward and small-ball center, he didn’t draw much NBA interest this summer.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, adds another proven veteran to a roster that already features several ex-NBA players.
