Spurs
Jeremy Sochan’s name is officially on the trade radar.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, San Antonio has granted Sochan and his representatives permission to explore potential trade scenarios. The No. 9 overall pick in 2022 was a regular starter his first two seasons, but his role has shrunk as the Spurs’ rotation has evolved.
He has appeared in just 27 games this year, averaging 4.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 13.1 minutes per night.
Shooting remains the swing skill. Sochan is a career 46.9 percent shooter from the field and 28.7 percent from three, numbers that have limited his offensive ceiling. Still, he is just 22, on a $7.1 million expiring contract, and headed toward restricted free agency if tendered a qualifying offer.
The Knicks have been mentioned as a possible low-cost frontcourt suitor as they continue to scan for affordable depth.
Lakers
Dalton Knecht may also be available.
Stein reports the second-year Lakers wing could be on the move after falling out of the rotation. Knecht, a 2024 first-round pick, is averaging 12.5 minutes across 36 games and has been limited to garbage-time run over the past two weeks.
He was previously involved in last season’s rescinded Mark Williams deal with Charlotte.
Pelicans
New Orleans is setting a high bar for Trey Murphy III or Herbert Jones.
Per Stein, the Pelicans are seeking a “Desmond Bane-type offer,” referencing Memphis’ four-first-round-pick return from Orlando last summer.
With both Murpohy and Jones on long-term deals, there is no urgency to sell, even as the Pelicans continue to slide in the West.
