Warriors

The Warriors haven’t made any splashy moves this offseason, nor have they even come to terms with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.

Either possibility may be on the waiting list, though one insider indicated Kuminga’s eventual return to Golden State is likely.

“I think all of the market dynamics at play will lead him back to the Warriors at a compromise contract that can potentially be traded on December 15th,” The Athletic’s Anthony Slater said on Sactown Sports 1140.

Along with the Warriors, Kuminga has been linked to the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and a few others.

Suns

Suns shooting guard Bradley Beal is reportedly working toward a buyout, and the Clippers may be in the lead for his services once it happens. But multiple others are believed to be interested as well.

While he’s not the Beal of his Wizards years, he can still help a team. Just not Phoenix.

Meanwhile, the Suns aren’t planning on a rebuild. Instead, as one NBA scout told Hoops Wire, they are just “repurposing” around Devin Booker. That includes some high hopes for former Rockets guard Jalen Green, part of the return in the Kevin Durant trade.

The Suns have also gotten considerably bigger and deeper in the frontcourt after trading for center Mark Williams (Hornets) and drafting center Khaman Maluach (Duke).

As new GM Brian Gregory told reporters on Monday, the Suns will be better last protecting the rim, that’s for darn sure.

“We were very poor protecting the rim last year,” Gregory said. “Now you should be able to have a full game where there’s protection of the rim. … To get both those guys, we weren’t passing that up.”

And despite all the changes, they may be every bit as competitive — and perhaps more — than last season.

Nuggets

If things end up not working out for the Nuggets in the Jonas Valanciunas trade with the Kings, perhaps Denver could consider Al Horford.

That’s not something actually being floated at the moment — as the Nuggets intend to land and keep Valanciunas. But reports say the big man is angling to play for Greek club Panathinaikos. If Denver were to let him out of his contract (unlikely), why not turn to Horford, asked Adam Mares of the All City Podcast.

“I think Al Horford is a better option (than Valanciunas) given the role that is expected of him,” Mares said. “I see some people say, ‘He’s 39. He’s washed.’ Did you not watch him last year? The man played incredible defense.”

Mares is right. Horford still has at least a little something left in the tank. He may even be a better option than Valanciunas.

But so far, it seems as if Horford is only considering the Warriors … or retirement. But hey, maybe that’s only because a real contender like the Nuggets has yet to show interest.
