The Bucks and Hawks will take part in two preseason games in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on Oct. 6 and 8, the league announced in a release.
The games will be held at Etihad Arena, which has a capacity of 18,000.
“We are honored to have been selected to participate in the NBA’s first games in the United Arab Emirates,” Bucks’ president Peter Feigin said in a statement. “As the NBA continues to expand globally, we look forward to visiting Abu Dhabi and furthering the league’s goals of inspiring people through basketball. We will be proud to represent our city, our state, and Bucks fans worldwide this October.”
Overseas preseason games for the NBA are nothing new. The league has been taking its product outside of the U.S. and Canada, off an on, for around 40 years.
It last did so in October 2019, when the Kings and Pacers played twice in Mumbai, India, and the Rockets and Kings played twice in Saitama, India. Also that year, the Lakers and Nets played a pair of preseason games in China.
