Now here’s one that most certainly would get the league talking. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report floated a trade idea that ships Trae Young from Atlanta to Phoenix.

And yes, it’s the type of hypothetical that Suns fans would probably print out and frame.

The proposal looks like this:

Suns get:

• Trae Young

Hawks get:

• Jalen Green

• Nick Richards

• Rasheer Fleming

• A 2027 first-round pick (via Utah, Cleveland or Minnesota)

• A 2029 second-round pick

Buckley’s logic is simple. Phoenix wants to take some of the weight off Devin Booker’s shoulders. Young can do that.

“He commands constant attention… for both his prolific playmaking and deep scoring range,” Buckley wrote.

Pair Young and Booker in the backcourt, surround them with size up front, and suddenly the Suns might look like a two-way headache.

Young hasn’t played since spraining his MCL on October 29, and the Hawks have held steady without him.

That, combined with the fact that extension talks “haven’t progressed,” per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, has people around the league wondering if Atlanta could consider a reset.

Young is eligible for a four-year, $229 million extension and makes $45.9 million this season.

He can hit the market next summer if he declines his $48.9 million player option.

Through five games, Young is averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 assists on 37 percent shooting. For his career, he’s at 25.2 and 9.8 and once led the Hawks to the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals.

Both Phoenix and Atlanta sit at 12-8.

There’s been no real connection between Young and the Suns, but as always in this league, these things have a way of heating up fast.
