NBA trade proposal sends Mavericks’ Anthony Davis to Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga to Kings

NBA trade season always brings big ideas. Some feel plausible. Others feel like front-office whiteboard sessions that get erased before lunch.

This one lands somewhere in between.

With the Warriors still probing ways to extend the Stephen Curry window, a hypothetical from DallasHoopsJournal sends Anthony Davis to the Bay Area in a multi-team swap.

Again, hypothetical. But interesting.

Mavericks receive:

Kings receive

Golden State Warriors receive

  • Anthony Davis

Why Dallas Listens

The Mavericks already pivoted once. They moved on from Luka Doncic, then caught lightning by landing Cooper Flagg. At that point, timelines change.

This deal is about picks and flexibility.

Green brings leadership and edge. Monk adds scoring punch. Horford is mostly contract structure. But the real value is future firsts, allowing Dallas to fully commit to building around Flagg rather than straddling eras.

If a better picks-heavy offer exists, Dallas should take it. But the logic here is clear. Get younger. Get flexible. Move on.

Why Sacramento Takes the Swing

The Kings are sort of stuck in the middle. Not bad enough to reset cleanly. Not good enough to threaten anyone.

That is where buy-low bets live.

Kuminga’s role has shrunk in Golden State. His touches have dipped. His future there looks cloudy. Sacramento could offer something different. Usage. Patience. A real runway.

It does not fix everything. But it gives the Kings a potential foundational piece instead of spinning wheels around the same core.

Why Golden State Rolls the Dice

The Warriors are not trading Curry. That part is settled.

So the question becomes simple. If you are keeping Curry, do you help him or do you drift quietly?

Pairing Curry with Davis and Jimmy Butler would be risky, expensive, and very real. It would also be one of the few ways Golden State could still matter deep into April.

Yes, Davis carries injury concerns. Yes, this is a gamble. But dynasties rarely fade politely. They usually swing once more before the lights go out.

As hypotheticals go, this one at least understands the stakes.
