File this under interesting, slightly crazy, and also not the worst idea anyone has ever had.
A proposed offseason deal from Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz has the Raptors bringing back Kawhi Leonard, with the Clippers receiving Brandon Ingram, Collin Murray-Boyles, Ja’Kobe Walter and a 2026 first-round pick (via Ashish Mathur).
Yes, that Kawhi. Back to Toronto. Again.
And here’s the thing: Around the league, there’s already a growing belief the Clippers at least have to consider moving Leonard. They’re no longer viewed as a true contender, he has one year left on his deal at $50.3 million, and the direction of the roster is… let’s just say, shifting.
So the idea isn’t totally out of left field.
For the Raptors, it’s familiar territory. They made this exact bet in 2018 when they acquired Leonard from the Spurs on an expiring deal. That worked out with a championship. Parade. History.
He left a year later. Nobody cared.
Now imagine running it back, pairing Leonard with Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley in an Eastern Conference that, frankly, doesn’t feel locked up by anyone.
From the Clippers’ side, this would be about resetting with younger pieces and flexibility.
Is it likely? Probably not. Is it intriguing? Absolutely.
And if Leonard really is on the move this summer, don’t be shocked if Toronto at least picks up the phone.
