Kings Expected To Explore De’Aaron Fox Trades Ahead Of Deadline

The Sacramento Kings are expected to ramp up trade discussions surrounding De’Aaron Fox as the NBA trade deadline approaches, per Shams Charania of ESPN.De'Aaron Fox, Kings, NBA

Fox has long been viewed as a key player in Sacramento’s future, but with the Kings looking to make moves to bolster their roster, it appears the point guard could be on the move.

Multiple teams are expected to express interest, though the Kings are said to be fully aware that Fox already has a team in mind as he eyes free agency in 2026.

NBA insider Chris Haynes added his own report, writing that Fox is “zeroed in on landing spot as the franchise looks to possibly move him. Interested teams will likely be discouraged from trading for him being he’s set to become UFA in 2026. Fox’s unwillingness to sign an extension has positioned the situation here.”

As for which team that is, it’s hard to say. But given the new NBA labor rules, it’s unlikely that Fox can get precisely where he’d like without some serious roster reshuffling and surrendering of massive assets. Not from Sacramento, mind you, but from the team to which he desires to go.

Basically, the Kings are likely weighing their options, considering the potential long-term benefits of dealing Fox versus keeping him as a cornerstone piece.

As always, Sacramento’s decision will hinge on what kind of return they can get, especially given Fox’s significant value as a dynamic, younger playmaker in today’s NBA.

The NBA trade deadline is February 6.
