Nets newcomer Ben Simmons will play … or is it Ben Simmons won’t play. That has been the story of the entire season for Simmons, who simply has not played.
The latest is that Simmons will indeed play, per Shams Charania of The Athletic, who paid a visit to the Pat McAfee Show.
“Ben Simmons is exactly what the Nets are missing right now,” Charania said. “There is an expectation that he will play this year.”

Simmons has been out with a back issue since being acquired from the 76ers as part of the James Harden trade. The issue has resulted in various degrees of pain and a lack of movement, according to reports and Nets coach Steve Nash.
With Kevin Durant healthy and Kyrie Irving eligible to play in home games again, a defender and facilitator such as Simmons could indeed put the Nets over the top. But if he actually takes the court … well, it’s been a season-long question.
