Nets Sign Tyson Etienne To Two-Way Deal, Waive Kendall Brown

The Brooklyn Nets are making a move to bolster their backcourt, signing guard Tyson Etienne to a two-way contract, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.Tyson Etienne, Nets, NBA

The team created the roster spot by waiving Kendall Brown, per The New York Post’s Brian Lewis. The move comes after Brooklyn’s decision to opt out of re-signing of Killian Hayes.

Etienne has been lighting it up in the G League for the Long Island Nets, averaging 20.0 points, 3.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 steals over 24 regular-season games. Most notably, the 6’2” guard has been an elite three-point shooter, knocking down 47.6% of his attempts while taking an impressive seven per game.

Despite going undrafted out of Wichita State in 2022, Etienne has steadily worked his way up, previously spending time in the Hawks’ system before rejoining Brooklyn on an Exhibit 10 deal in September. He was waived from the Nets one day after his original signing. Now, he gets his first official NBA opportunity.

Meanwhile, Brown’s time with the Nets ends without an appearance at the NBA level. Signed to a two-way deal late last month, the 6’7” swingman has spent most of the season with Long Island, averaging 16.1 points and 5.3 rebounds over 37 games.

For the Nets, the move signals a focus on perimeter shooting, with Etienne’s deep-range ability providing potential scoring punch as Brooklyn evaluates its roster for the future.
