The Nets have waived guards Trey McGowens and Kameron Hankerson, shortly after signing each to a training camp contract.
The purpose, of course, is to allow them to play for the Long Island Nets of the G League. That is where both players spent last season.
McGowens, 23, is 6-foot-4 and went undrafted out of Nebraska in the 2022 NBA Draft and came off the bench for Long Island, appearing in 23 games. He is the older brother of Hornets rookie shooting guard Bryce McGowens.
Hankerson, 25, is 6-5 and appeared in 44 games for Long Island last season. He went undrafted out of Green Bay in 2020 then spent a couple of years playing professionally in Germany.
Each player will be eligible for a bonus of $75,000 should he remain with Long Island for at least 60 days.
