Nuggets star and back-to-back NBA MVP Nikola Jokic is still committed to the Nuggets and the direction of the franchise after Tim Connelly‘s departure, per Mike Singer of The Denver Post.
Connelly left his position as the Nuggets’ head of basketball operations for the same role with the Timberwolves. He held the position in Denver since 2013, selecting Jokic in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft.
Nuggets GM Calvin Booth reportedly will be promoted to Connelly’s old role, as we relayed earlier.
Per Singer, Nuggets brass has spoken to Jokic after Connelly left for Minnesota, in an effort to get Jokic’s thoughts and put any concerns to rest. Part of the conversation likely consisted of the Nuggets assuring Jokic that they remain committed to building a contender.
Nuggets owner Josh Kroenke will hold a press conference later this week, marking the first time he has spoken to the media in several years.
