Nuggets coach Michael Malone has entered health and safety protocols, according to Mike Singer of the Denver Post.
In addition, Nuggets forwards Jeff Green and Zeke Nnaji, and guard Bones Hyland have also entered the protocol, Singer reported. Assistant Dan Adelman will take over while Malone is sidelined, per multiple reports.
“Prior to Malone testing positive, two other Nuggets assistant coaches had tested positive,” Singer wrote.
Until Thursday, the Nuggets did not have any players in the protocol. They also intend to sign shooting guard Davon Reed to another 10-day contract, as we relayed earlier, via Singer.
But it’s hard to know if Denver will have enough available players for Thursday’s game vs. the Warriors.
Malone is the latest coach to enter protocols, joining the 76ers’ Doc Rivers (full post), Lakers’ Frank Vogel, Bulls’ Billy Donovan, Suns’ Monty Williams, Trail Blazers’ Chauncey Billups and Thunder’s Mark Daigneault. The Pacers’ Rick Carlisle and Kings interim coach Alvin Gentry have entered and since exited protocols.
The Nuggets (17-16) have won two straight, including an impressive win at Golden State on Tuesday.
