Nuggets guard Jamal Murray will miss the FIBA World Cup as a member of Team Canada, according to multiple reports.
Murray is said to be fine physically but could probably use the rest after the Nuggets’ run to the championship, which ended in June. The World Cup begins at the end of this month and runs into training camp.
Murray, of course, isn’t the lone NBA player for Canada. Others on roster include Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Knicks small forward RJ Barrett, Rockets forward Dillon Brooks, Thunder wing Luguentz Dort, Warriors guard Cory Joseph, Jazz forward Kelly Olynyk, Celtics forward Oshae Brissett, Mavericks center Dwight Powell, and former Cavs guard Kevin Pangos.
Team Canada opens World Cup play vs. France on Friday, Aug. 25.
