Nuggets shooting guard Jamal Murray offered an update on Instagram Live as he ramps up his workouts, as relayed by Mike Singer of the Denver Post.
“I can’t hoop yet, but I feel great,” Murray said, via Singer.
Singer added that the increased intensity of Murray’s workouts has been evident prior to games, when players generally take the court to get up shots and work up a sweat.
Murray, 24, is 6-foot-3 suffered a torn ACL in a game against the Warriors on April 12. He had missed the previous four games with knee soreness. Clearly, it was a major blow to Denver, as Murray had been averaging 21.2 points, 4.8 assists and 4.0 rebounds at the time.
There is still no timetable for his return, and both Murray and Nuggets GM Tim Connelly said at the team’s media day they wouldn’t force it.
“Just five months ago, I couldn’t lift my leg off the bed,” Murray said in late September. “So, I’ve come a long way. But even when I do certain things, I’ve got to remind myself that I can’t do it to the speed or the level that I want to do it. … That’s just going to come with time. And I can’t rush time.”
The Nuggets (9-7) have lost three straight. They were also without star center and reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic in Friday’s loss to the Bulls. He is out with a sprained wrist.
