Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is meeting face-to-face with Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly in Minnesota, “in the next step in the team’s pursuit to hire Connelly and make him one of the NBA’s highest-compensated executives,” reported Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Connelly has already talked “extensively” about becoming the head of basketball operations with Wolves minority owners Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore, Wojnarowski wrote. He added the meeting with Taylor is considered “the next step in the process.”
Connelly has been the head of basketball operations with the Nuggets since 2013, when he replaced current Raptors GM Masai Ujiri. As Wojnarowski noted, Connelly had similar flirtations with the Wizards a couple years ago, but turned down an offer there.
“Connelly has built a reputation as one of the NBA’s best talent evaluators and deal-makers, maintaining strong relationships with top player agents and the respect of his front-office peers,” Wojnarowski wrote.
