The Nuggets have signed NBA free agents Will Richardson, Andrew Funk, and Charles Bediako to Exhibit 10 contracts for training camp, the team announced.
Denver cleared space for the trio by waiving Gabe McGlothan, Jaylin Williams, and Jahmir Young earlier in the day.
Richardson, an undrafted guard from Oregon, averaged 7.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists with the Grand Rapids Gold of the G League last season.
Funk, who went undrafted after playing at Bucknell and Penn State, appeared in four NBA Summer League games with the Nuggets and had a brief stint with the Bulls on a two-way contract.
Bediako, a 7-footer from Alabama, participated in Summer League games with the Spurs and Magic.
All three players are expected to be waived and could join the Nuggets’ G League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
The Nuggets, like all NBA teams, will certainly have more minor moves in the coming days. That likely includes releasing the three players who were just signed and retaining their G League rights.
Denver lost to the Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals one year after winning the championship. A return to true title contention is undoubtedly expected this season.
