The Nuggets intend to sign center DeMarcus Cousins and guard/forward James Ennis to 10-day contracts via the hardship exception, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
In addition to those moves, Nuggets guard Will Barton has entered health and safety protocols, Charania reported.
Cousins, 31, is 6-foot-10 and signed with the Bucks in late November, but the deal was non-guaranteed. Milwaukee opted to release Cousins on Friday, the day when contracts had to become guaranteed for the season.
Cousins appeared in 16 games this season, averaging 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds.
He averaged 7.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 16 games with the Clippers last year after spending the first part of the season with the Rockets. The four-time All-Star also played meaningful minutes in the playoffs as LA made a run to the Western Conference Finals.
Since making his last All-Star team, though, he suffered a ruptured Achilles and torn ACL and hasn’t been the same player who carries career averages of 20.4 points and 10.6 rebounds.
Ennis, 31, is 6-foot-6 and has already signed 10-day deals with the Nets and Clippers this season. He also reportedly had reached agreement on a 10-day contract with the Jazz, before the team reversed course and signed shooting guard Denzel Valentine instead.
Ennis played 41 games for the Magic last season, averaging 8.4 points and 4.0 rebounds. He has also spent time with the 76ers, Rockets, Pistons, Grizzlies, Pelicans and Heat.
