When it comes to teams on the trade rumor mill, the Pacers are way up near the top.
There are plenty of reasons for that, and it’s likely because they believe with the right additions, they could be in line for a deep playoff run.
Per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Indiana is currently building trade offers around shooting guard Buddy Hield, a player who could bring something decent in return. That is, if you throw in a couple other assets.
The Pacers, of course, have also been called the leaders in the sweepstakes for Raptors power forward Pascal Siakam.
“The Pacers, league sources say, have been building trade offers around a package of Buddy Hield (who’s in the final season of his current contract at $18.6 million) and a future first-round pick,” Stein wrote.
“Indiana ranks among the league’s most aggressive teams in trade talks — as evidenced by its recent pursuit of OG Anunoby before the Raptors dealt Anunoby to the Knicks. No team, furthermore, gets consistently mentioned in league circles as a potential suitor for Toronto’s Pascal Siakam more than the Pacers.”
In other words, Indiana is exploring, and then some, with a month to go before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
