Pacers guard Caris LeVert has a stress fracture in his back and could miss the start of the season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Despite the less-than-ideal news, Wojnarowski added the Pacers are optimistic about a quick return and that LeVert’s injury is viewed as a “minor” setback.
LeVert, 27, appeared in 35 games with the Pacers after a trade with the Nets, averaging an impressive 20.7 points and 4.9 assists during his time in Indiana.
This becomes the latest setback for both LeVert and the Pacers.
LeVert suffered a gruesome leg injury during the 2018-19 season, then underwent surgery following the trade to Indiana for renal cell carcinoma of his left kidney.
Meanwhile, the Pacers have already lost Edmond Sumner to a torn Achilles tendon, and announced that small forward T.J. Warren is progressing slower than expected from a foot injury and is out indefinitely.
