Pacers Signing Jahlil Okafor To 10-Day Deal; Alex Len Out

Veteran center Jahlil Okafor is signing a 10-day contract with the Indiana Pacers, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.Jahlil Okafor, Pistons, Pacers, NBA

Okafor, 29, was the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft but has not played in the league since the 2020-21 season. During that campaign, he appeared in 27 games for the Detroit Pistons.

Over the course of his career, Okafor has played in 247 regular-season games, with previous stints in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, New Orleans, and Detroit. He has averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while playing 19.5 minutes per contest.

Despite being out of the league for some time, Okafor has remained active in basketball, most recently showcasing his talents for the Pacers’ G League affiliate, the Indiana Mad Ants.

In 30 regular season and Showcase games, Okafor posted impressive numbers, averaging 18.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. His strong G League performance earned him an invitation to participate in the 2025 Up Next event during NBA All-Star Weekend.

Okafor initially joined the Pacers’ training camp roster on an Exhibit 10 contract but was waived before being assigned to the G League team. In recent years, he has also played overseas, including stints in China, Spain, and Puerto Rico, further honing his skills.

The timing of Okafor’s signing raises questions about center Alex Len, who was expected to fill an open roster spot for the Pacers after clearing waivers.

With Okafor’s arrival, it appears that Len will be signing elsewhere, as relayed by Dustin Dopirak of IndyStar.
