The Pacers made a few draft-related trades heading into the big night Thursday, then they made another when the actual draft was taking place.
Drafting seventh, the Pacers selected French wing Bilal Coulibaly at No. 7, but traded back a spot to snag Houston power forward Jarace Walker at No. 8.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced that this is part of a trade “to be finalized later.”
Walker should give the Pacers some of the help they’re looking for upfront alongside Myles Turner. A powerful player, Walker has a reputation for making an impact near the basket at both ends. He also has an ability to step away from the basket and knock down shots.
Frankly, it’s the type of promise in the frontcourt that the Pacers were seeking.
