Pacers center Myles Turner will not return this season because of a stress reaction in his left foot, suffered back in January, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Indiana has no shot at the playoffs and only seven games remaining, so it makes no sense to bring back Turner now. Per Wojnarowski, however, Turner has been making progress in his rehab from the injury.
Turner, 26, is 6-foot-11 and lately has had trouble staying on the court for the majority of the season. He appeared in just 47 games last year and just 42 in this one.
A renowned shot-blocker, Turner averaged 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds this season, to go with his 2.8 blocks.
His name has been mentioned in trade rumors in each of the past two or three seasons, and that isn’t likely to change this summer — as Turner will be entering the final year of his contract entering 2022-23.
He is eligible for a contract extension and the Pacers very well could end up keeping him as well, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks. After trading power forward Domantas Sabonis in February, Indiana could undoubtedly use the help inside.
