The Indiana Pacers have waived guard Kyle Magnus and forward Cameron McGriff, according to the NBA transactions log.
The moves were expected, as both players signed Exhibit 10 contracts last week to play for the Indiana Mad Ants of the G League.
Magnus, 25, is 6-foot-4 and is a product of Warsaw (Ind.) High School and Indiana Wesleyan University. He went undrafted in 2021 and played for the Mad Ants last season after a couple years overseas.
He then spent July with the Los Angeles Lakers summer team in Las Vegas.
“[It] was still a super neat experience, you know. Practicing in front of (LeBron James) and just things like that,” Mangas said on the Locked On Pacers podcast. “Meeting JJ Redick, Rob Pelinka, all those guys. [It was] super cool.”
That meant Magnus also played alongside basketball celebrity Bronny James.
“He’s a super nice guy, he’s quiet, he’s pretty laid back. He’s a hard worker,” Mangas said. “There’s so much media surrounding him. We would get off the bus at our hotel, and there’d be 250 people waiting for him to get off just to film and walk into the hotel.
“You’ve got to feel for a kid like that, there’s just a lot of pressure and publicity, and that’s hard to get away from sometimes. [I] think he handled it pretty well from what I saw.”
McGriff, 26, is 6-7 and went undrafted out of Oklahoma State in 2020. He has bounced around between overseas and the G League, appearing in three games with the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2021-22 season and averaging 4.7 points and 5.0 rebounds.
