The New Orleans Pelicans have assigned guard Dyson Daniels to the Birmingham Squadron of the G League, the team announced in a press release.
Daniels, 21, is 6-foot-8 and has been out since Feb. 9, recently undergoing surgery on his left knee. He will be available to lay for the Squadron on Wednesday.
So far this season he’s appeared in 52 games and is averaging 5.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals.
Originally selected by the Pelicans with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, daniels is in his second season. He appeared in 59 games last year and averaged 3.8 points.
New Orleans (44-28) fell to fifth place in the Western Conference after Tuesday’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Pelicans are a half-game back of the Los Angeles Clippers.
