The Pelicans have an interest in signing guard CJ McCollum and Larry Nance Jr. to contract extensions, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, via RealGM.
McCollum and the Pelicans may be currently involved in extension talks, Windhorst said on The Hoop Collective podcast, though he added he’s not sure when a deal can actually be signed.
McCollum, 30, was acquired by the Pelicans from the Trail Blazers in February, and proceeded to put up career numbers. In 24 games with New Orleans, he averaged 24.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists, all career-highs.
He signed a three-year, $100 million extension with the Blazers in 2019.
Meanwhile, Nance was also acquired from the Blazers in February. Nance, 29, was coming off an injury and played just nine games with the Pelicans. In 46 games overall last season, he averaged 7.0 points and 5.4 boards.
He has also spent time with the Cavaliers and Lakers.
“I think the Pelicans are also interested in extending Larry Nance’s contract,” Windhorst said. “We’ll see if that gets done.”
Both McCollum (Canton Glen Oak High School) and Nance (Bath Revere) are products of Northeast Ohio.
