The Pelicans have signed veteran forward Anthony Tolliver and guard/forward Justin James to 10-day contracts via the hardship exception, the team announced in a press release.
Tolliver, 36, is 6-foot-8 and signed a pair of 10-day deals with the 76ers late last season, before signing a standard deal in early April. He was waived in August before his contract was to become guaranteed.
That, of course, was nothing new for Tolliver, a journeyman forward who has now spent time with 14 teams. He appeared in 11 games with Philadelphia and averaged 1.5 points.
James, 24, is 6-7 and was selected by the Kings out of Wyoming in the second round of the 2019 draft. He spent his first two years in Sacramento, playing 36 games in each.
Since then, he has been in training camp with the Cavaliers and had been playing for the Cleveland Charge, the Cavs’ G League affiliate.
James averaged 3.9 points and shot 37 percent on 3-pointers with the Kings last season. He averaged 15.7 points in 14 games for the Charge.
The Pelicans have three players in health and safety protocols at this writing — Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jose Alvarado and Naji Marshall.
