The Pelicans have signed shooting guard Dereon Seabron to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.
In addition, the Pelicans signed shooting guard John Petty Jr. and guard/forward Daeqwon Plowden, likely to non-guaranteed training camp contracts.
Seabron, 22, is 6-foot-7 and went undrafted out of NC State. He will be splitting time between New Orleans and the G League affiliate in Birmingham.
Petty, 23, is 6-5 and went undrafted out of Alabama in 2021, then went on to play for the Birmingham Squadron as an affiliate player.
Ploweden, 24, is 6-6 and went undrafted out of Bowling Green. Per the Pelicans’ release:
“Plowden, 6-6, 215, played five seasons at Bowling Green State (2017-22), averaging 10.5 points and 6.1 rebounds in 25.4 minutes per contest. Plowden finished his college career as BGSU’s all-time leader in games played (154), and is the only player in program history to log at least 1,200 career points, 800 rebounds, and 100 blocks.”
Perhaps Ploweden and Petty will compete for the other two-way slot in camp, given that it’s available. Second-round pick E.J. Lidell, who suffered a torn ACL, remains unsigned.
