The Pelicans have signed rookie forward E.J. Liddell to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.
Liddell, 21, is 6-foot-7 and was selected by the Pelicans with the No. 41 overall draft pick in June. He then suffered a torn ACL while playing for New Orleans’ summer squad — meaning he is expected to miss the entirety of the upcoming season.
With that in mind, Liddell will spend his time rehabbing the injury with the Pelicans and Birmingham Squadron of the G League. He joins Dereon Seabron as the Pelicans’ two-way players.
In his final season at Ohio State, Liddell was named third-team All-American and an All-Big Ten first-teamer, averaging 19.4 points ands 7.9 rebounds.
