The Pelicans are signing forward Feron Hunt to a 10-day contract via the hardship exception, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Hunt, 22, is 6-foot-8 and went undrafted out of SMU following his junior season. As a rookie with the G League’s Texas Legends, he is averaging 15.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals, shooting 53 percent from the field.
Hunt played for the Mavericks in the NBA summer league and also attended training camp with the Mavs. He was waived Oct. 15 before signing with the Legends as an affiliate player.
The Pelicans have three players in health and safety protocols and have replaced each. Along with signing Hunt, they added forward Anthony Tolliver and guard/forward Justin James.
