The Pelicans are signing point guard Jared Harper to a two-way contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Harper, 24, is 5-foot-10 and has been playing for the Birmingham Squadron of the G League, averaging 21.3 points and 6.9 assists.
He appeared in eight games with the Knicks last season, and three with the Suns in 2019-20 as a rookie. Undrafted out of Auburn, Harper has also spent time with the Westchester Knicks and Northern Arizona Suns.
The Pelicans (10-21) are one of the few teams without anyone in the NBA’s health and safety protocol (as of Tuesday morning), though they are expected to still be without star power forward Zion Williamson for a while.
They applied for a disabled player exception following the season-ending knee injury to point guard Kira Lewis, per Will Guillory of The Athletic.
