Pelicans power forward Zion Williamson will miss Tuesday’s game against the Mavericks with a hip contusion, suffered in Sunday’s overtime loss to the Jazz.
Williamson, course, missed all of last season with a foot injury, and concerns of him being able to stay healthy have run rampant across the NBA.
Small forward Brandon Ingram, who has been paced in the league’s concussion protocol, is also out.
Williamson, 22, is averaging 22.0 points and 6.7 rebounds through the first three games., shooting 49 percent from the field.
The No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, he compiled averages of 27.0 points and 7.2 boards during his last healthy season of 2020-21, in which he appeared in 61 games.
No timeframe for his return has been given.
