Pelicans power forward Zion Williamson will have his hamstring injury re-evaluated in the middle of next week, according to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT.
Williamson has been sidelined since early January, then suffered a setback — which executive VP of basketball operations David Griffin said would keep Williamson longer than initially expected.
Williamson has been back on the court, working out, taking part in a “rigorous” workout on Tuesday, Haynes said.
Should Williamson be cleared to resume playing, he will join a Pelicans team that is currently fighting for a spot in the playoffs or play-in tournament. They entered Tuesday’s road game against the Warriors in eighth place in the Western Conference — but just 1.5 games ahead of the 11th-place Mavericks.
Williamson, 22, is averaging 26.0 points and 7.0 rebounds, shooting 61 percent from the field, in 29 games.
