According to NBA insider Matt Moore of The Action Network, Klay Thompson and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are “serious options” for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Thompson and Caldwell-Pope are unrestricted free agents.
The Sixers have $55 million in practical cap space to use this summer. The franchise hasn’t advanced past the second round of the playoffs in the Joel Embiid era.
The Orlando Magic are also interested in Thompson and Caldwell-Pope, who have combined to win six championships.
Caldwell-Pope averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.6 blocks in 2023-24 for the Denver Nuggets while shooting 46.0% from the field, 40.6% from beyond the arc and 89.4% from the foul line.
Meanwhile, Thompson averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists for the Golden State Warriors while shooting 43.2% from the field, 38.7% from beyond the arc and 92.7% from the free-throw line.
The Warriors drafted Thompson with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Washington State. Thompson has made five All-Star teams, two All-NBA teams and one All-Defensive team with the Warriors. He has helped the franchise win four championships.
Thompson has career averages of 19.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He turns 35 next season.
According to NBA insider Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, Thompson is seeking an offer of at least three years.
Caldwell-Pope has played for the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Nuggets. He holds career averages of 11.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.3 blocks.
The Nuggets, who won the 2023 title against the Miami Heat in five games, lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of this year’s playoffs in seven games.
KCP is a two-time champion. He won the 2020 title with the Lakers at the Walt Disney World bubble versus the Heat in six games.
The Sixers lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2024 playoffs in six games.
Meanwhile, the Warriors missed the postseason.
