According to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker will miss around seven or 10 days with his ankle injury.

Booker sprained his right ankle on March 2 against the Houston Rockets.

The Suns lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 3 without Booker, who is averaging 27.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists on the season while shooting 49.4% from the field, 37.9% from beyond the arc and 88.0% from the free-throw line.

Phoenix is 35-26 on the season. The team is in seventh place in the Western Conference standings.

“We got time, but we can’t keep saying we got time,” Suns guard Bradley Beal said after the Thunder loss. “We only got (21) games left. It’s a good amount of games to really get us going and get us going right before the playoffs. I think that will be really good for us, but we do got to get rolling. We can’t keep talking about it. We’ve got to do it. We got to hit this steamroller head-on.”

The Suns are 13th in the NBA in points per game and 16th in points per game allowed. If the season ended today, Phoenix would be in the play-in tournament.

The Suns lost to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2023 playoffs in six games. They acquired Beal from the Washington Wizards and Jusuf Nurkic from the Portland Trail Blazers last summer.

A “Big 4” of Booker, Beal, Nurkic and Kevin Durant was expected to compete for this year’s championship. It will be fascinating to see if the Suns make the 2024 playoffs.

If Phoenix makes the postseason, Booker, Durant, Beal and Nurkic will have to play at a high level for the franchise to win the title.
