The Nets are trading guard/forward Joe Harris and two second-round picks to the Pistons, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Along with Harris, the Nets will send their a 2027 second-round pick (via the Mavericks) and a 2029 second-round pick (via the Bucks) to Detroit, per Charania.
Harris is on an expiring $19.9 million contract, clearing some cap space for Brooklyn and creating flexibility for other moves. Even after unloading Harris, the Nets still have a glut of wing players.
Along with that, this gives the Nets additional wiggle room to match any outside offers for restricted free agent Cam Johnson, per Marc Stein of the Stein Line.
Meanwhile, the Pistons are adding some deft perimeter shooting, with Harris having connected on at least 42 percent on 3-pointers in each of the past six seasons. In 2022-23, he averaged 7.6 points in 74 games, one season removed from major foot surgery.
The Pistons also have about $7 million in cap space remaining, likely signaling this won’t be their only move, as noted by James Edwards III of The Athletic.
