Big man Jalen Duren not only scored 24 points in the Detroit Pistons’ 113-104 win over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, but he also collected a career-high 23 rebounds. Yes, 23 big boards.
And hey, the Pistons won again.
So make it three out of four for the team that also set the NBA’s longest losing streak this season at 28 games. It’s the first time the Pistons have accomplished the three-of-four since 2021-22.
That may not sound like much to move teams, but for today’s Pistons, it means something.
Meanwhile, Duren joined the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and Sacramento Kings’ Domantas Sabonis as the only players with two games this season of 20 points, 20 rebounds and five assists.
“I just wanted to get us a win, honestly,” Duren told reporters. “We’ve talked a lot about running hard through the tape and finishing this year strong.”
Cade Cunningham added 19 points and four others joined Duren and Cunningham in double figures. Detroit (12-53) no longer has the NBA’s worst record, either. That honor now belongs to the Washington Wizards, who are a game behind — or in front — of the Pistons.
