The Pistons intend to sign small forward Braxton Key to a 10-day contract, agent Billy Davis told JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors.
Key, 25, is 6-foot-8 and has been playing for the Delaware Blue Coats of the G League, averaging 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds in 31 appearances. The Blue Coats are the 76ers’ affiliate.
Key signed a 10-day deal with the Sixers in January, appearing in two games. He was assigned to the G League on Jan. 11.
His college career started at Alabama, where he spent two years before transferring and finishing at Virginia. A former NCAA champion while at Virginia, Key went undrafted in 2020, then signed with the Blue Coats the following January. He was signed and waived by the 76ers in October.
“The 19-53 Pistons are locked into the NBA lottery at this point. It makes sense for them to check out intriguing young prospects during this stretch of the season,” wrote Alex Kirschenbaum of Hoops Rumors.
