Raptors Sign Jared Rhoden, Lose Ulrich Chomche For Season

The Toronto Raptors have signed NBA free agent guard Jared Rhoden to a 10-day contract, the team announced.Jared Rhoden, Raptors, NBA

Rhoden, 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, has appeared in four games with the Charlotte Hornets this season. The 24-year-old has also played in 20 games with the Greensboro Swarm and Raptors 905 in the NBA G League, averaging 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 29.5 minutes per game. Rhoden has shot .504 (133-264) from the field and .396 (40-101) from beyond the arc.

He has scored in double figures in 17 games, including eight outings with 20 or more points, highlighted by a season-high 32 points on Nov. 15 against Delaware.

The signing follows the announcement that Raptors center Ulrich Chomche will miss the remainder of the season due to a partial proximal MCL tear in his right knee. Chomche sustained the injury during the third quarter of a G League game last Thursday.

Toronto indicated that Chomche will begin his rehabilitation process with the goal of being ready for the Summer League in July.

Chomche, who was selected 57th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, signed a two-year, two-way contract with Toronto and entered the season as the youngest player on an NBA roster.

The 19-year-old has played just 32 total minutes in seven NBA games for the Raptors, spending the majority of his rookie year with Raptors 905. In 33 appearances for the G League team, he averaged 7.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks in 23.8 minutes per game.

As the Raptors look to navigate Chomche’s recovery, they may choose to keep him under contract in hopes of continued development this summer, potentially earning another two-way contract for the 2025-26 season.

The deadline to sign two-way contracts is March 4, meaning the Raptors must make a decision on his replacement for the remainder of the season by that date.
