The Raptors are monitoring the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander situation, in the event the Thunder decide to trade their talented guard, per Josh Lewenberg of TSN.
Gilgeous-Alexander is a native of Toronto. That said, there is no indication the Thunder will look to move him — quite the opposite — or that he wants to move on.
Still, as Lewenberg relayed, things can change.
“The Thunder have gone 46-108 over the past two years and don’t seem close to turning the corner, especially after losing second-overall pick Chet Holmgren to an off-season foot injury,” Lewenberg wrote, adding that Gilgeous-Alexander has already played for Raptors coach Nick Nurse with the Canadian national team.
“Gilgeous-Alexander is under contract with OKC through 2026-27 and has given no indication that he would prefer to play elsewhere, but again, things can change quickly in this crazy league.”
Gilgeous-Alexander, 24, is 6-foot-6 and among the Thunder’s greatest reasons for a bright future. Last season, he averaged a career-high 24.5 points to go with 5.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 57 games.
That said, he has missed 63 games with injuries over the previous two seasons.
