The Toronto Raptors have made a move, signing free agent center Orlando Robinson to a 10-day contract, the team announced today. No corresponding roster move was necessary, as Eugene Omoruyi’s 10-day deal expired overnight, opening up the 15th spot on the roster.
Robinson, 24, spent the previous two seasons with the Miami Heat before joining the Sacramento Kings this past summer.
With Sacramento, he was brought in to provide some depth behind Domantas Sabonis and Alex Len, but after appearing in just nine games and averaging 2.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in limited minutes, the Kings waived him earlier this month ahead of the salary guarantee deadline.
With Sacramento’s loss, Toronto’s gain. Robinson will fill the void left by Bruno Fernando’s departure from the Raptors’ roster. Head coach Darko Rajakovic now has another option in the frontcourt as Toronto continues to navigate the season.
The terms of Robinson’s contract are straightforward. He’ll earn $119,972 over the 10-day period, with the same amount counting against the Raptors’ cap.
The deal runs through January 27, and Robinson will be available for up to four games during that span. After that, Toronto will have the option to either offer him another 10-day deal or make a decision about a longer-term commitment.
For now, Robinson will look to prove himself and earn a more permanent spot on the Raptors’ roster.
