The Raptors intend to sign point guard Brandon Goodwin and power forward Juwan Morgan to 10-day contracts, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
As is the case all across the NBA, the Raptors are presumably using the hardship exemption to sign both players.
It was also learned on Monday that guard/forward Gary Trent Jr. had entered health and safety protocol, per Blake Murphy of Sportsnet. Forwards Pascal Siakam and Dalano Banton had already entered the protocol over the weekend.
Goodwin, 26, is 6-foot-0 and has been playing for the Westchester Knicks of the G League, averaging 15.3 points, 7.0 assists and 5.1 rebounds in seven games. He has appeared in a total of 50 NBA games with the Hawks and Nuggets, averaging 6.1 points in 34 games with Atlanta in 2020.
Morgan, 21, is 6-7 and was playing with the G League’s Maine Celtics. As Charania noted, he was Maine’s third call-up in 24 hours. Morgan has compiled averages of 12.6 points and 7.0 rebounds in the G League this season.
He went undrafted out of Indiana in 2019 and has appeared in 50 games with the Jazz, including 29 last season.
Neither Goodwin nor Morgan’s contract will count against the Raptors’ salary cap.
